How to Block Popups in XP

While popups generally are not dangerous to your computer's health, they can be annoying to those browsing the Web. Blocking popups in Windows XP's default browser, Internet Explorer, requires only a few moments and no special computer expertise. Blocking popups can be beneficial because it allows Web users to browse websites without needing to consistently manually close popup ads that appear when websites are accessed.

Instructions

1. Click the "Internet Explorer" icon on your desktop.

2. Click the "Tools" menu and select "Popup Blocker."

3. Click "Turn On Pop-up Blocker." You now have blocked popups in Windows XP.
