Use the TRI West Timeshare Bluebook website (see Resources) to look up the market value of your timeshare. This will tell you how much you will be able to claim on your taxes for the charitable donation. If the value is over $5,000 you will need to get a certified appraisal, as required by the Internal Revenue Service. A local real estate agent can refer you to an appraiser.

Donate the timeshare to the organization by signing over the deed. Once you do this and the deed is recorded, the charity will sell your timeshare so that the money can be used for the organization's programs. Once the property has sold, you are sent a donation receipt. Keep this receipt because you will need it when you claim the donation on your taxes.
