How to Refill Ink on Lexmark Printers
Lexmark is a well-known brand of home printers and printing supplies. With an inkjet refill kit, owners of Lexmark cartridges can refill their empty inkjet cartridges at home and avoid having to buy new cartridges. Over time, refilling the cartridges should save you money. With a basic refilling process, you can easily refill many of your Lexmark inkjet cartridges.

1
Properly remove the Lexmark cartridge from your printer and place it upright on a clear workspace covered with paper towels.
-
2
Locate the dimpled refill hole on the top side of the Lexmark cartridge. If your plastic refill syringe, which comes with the kit, cannot fit inside the hole, enlarge it first by using the thumb drill, which also comes with the kit.

-
3
Brush any plastic filings away from the hole, then fill the syringe with approximately 15 ml (1/2 ounce) of black ink, also provided.
-
4
Place the tip of the refill syringe into the hole on the top of the cartridge and push the nose of the syringe down into the body of the cartridge.
-
5
Slowly push the plunger on the syringe to begin releasing the ink. Constantly monitor the refill hole to see if any ink is creeping toward the surface. If the ink reaches the top, stop releasing the ink. Otherwise, release the entire contents of the syringe.
-
6
Gently pull the nose of the refill syringe out of the refill hole and allow the cartridge to remain upright for approximately 8 hours. This ensures that the ink will evenly disperse inside the cartridge, yielding optimum results. Place a piece of aluminum tape over the refill hole and return the cartridge to the printer once you are ready to resume printing.
