How to Disable the Pop-Up Blocker in IE8

Internet Explorer 8, also known as “IE8,” is a web browser that comes with its own pop-up blocker installed. When enabled, the IE8 pop-up blocker prevents windows, such as advertisements, from automatically opening in new browser windows. However, the IE8 pop-up blocker may also prevent pop-up windows that you want to see from appearing on the screen. You can manually disable the IE8 pop-up blocker whenever you wish.

Instructions

    • 1

      Open Internet Explorer 8.

    • 2

Click on “Tools” at the top of the browser. A menu appears.

    • 3

Select “Internet Options.” A window, named “Internet Options,” opens.

    • 4

Click “Privacy” at the top of the window.

    • 5

Click the box next to the “Turn on Pop-Up Blocker” option inside the center of the window to uncheck the box.

    • 6

Click “Apply” at the bottom of the Internet Options window. The pop-up blocker is disabled. Click “OK” at the left of “Apply” to close the window.
