TSA is short for Transportation Security Administration, a U.S. government agency that is part of the Department of Homeland Security. The TSA employs 50,000 security officers, inspectors, directors, air marshals and managers. TSA employees' duties include inspecting rail cars and searching for contraband at airports to ensure travelers' safety. Those who want to work for the TSA can apply through its website.

      Access the TSA website by typing in TSA.gov on your web browser. Click on the tab that says, "Who We Are." Click the tab on the right-hand side that says "Click here to learn about TSA careers."

      Choose which job you want to apply for. Options include law enforcement, airport security and air marshal. Career programs are available for veterans and college students.

      Click on each of the jobs to read about the requirements and job description. If you are interested in the position, scroll down the page until you see "How to Apply." Click on the USA Jobs link to see if that job is available.

      Type in keywords relative to your desired job and your desired location. Leave the location bar blank if you do not have a location in mind. Once you entered the information, click on "Search Jobs."

      Locate the job on the list. If your job is not there, start your search over again by using the keyword "TSA" and leaving the location box blank. Click on "Search Jobs" to see your results.

      Click on the job if you see it on the list of results. Read through the job description, requirements, benefits and employment process. Click the "Apply Online" button at the bottom of the page.

      Complete the application process by entering your information in the fields or by uploading your resume. You may need to register with the USA Jobs website before you can enter any information.

      Upload your resume (if you prefer) by clicking on "File." Locate your resume on your computer or flash drive. Highlight the document to select it and click "Upload." Click the "Submit" button to send your information.

      Read the next page. It tells you what documents you need to send regarding the TSA job. Write down the required information and TSA's address.
