How to Build Small Spray Booths
A spray booth is a special compartment that is specifically designed to take paint fumes from within the booth and transfer them out of the booth quickly and efficiently. These are particularly good to have for any painting job that involves painting with spray paints or airbrush paints. While you can purchase a small spray booth inexpensively, it is still cheaper, and sometimes easier, to build your own small spray booth.

1
Mark off a 21-inch by 24-inch rectangle on a 27-inch by 30-inch plywood board with a measuring tape and pencil. Drill a hole into the center of the board and then use a handheld jigsaw to cut out the rectangle.

2
Build a wooden frame using two 30-inch by 18-inch plywood boards and two 26.5-inch by 18-inch plywood boards. Drive staples into the corners of the frame with a staple gun to attach the pieces together; each staple should be 1 inch apart along the 18-inch edges of the frame. The frame will measure 30 inches in height, 27 inches in width, and 18 inches in depth.

3
Attach the plywood board with the rectangular opening at its center to one end of the frame to create a wooden box. Drive staples from the outside of the box into the edges of the frame to attach the pieces together. Put each staple 1 inch apart.

4
Attach an 8 inch by 21 inch plywood board one of the 21-inch edges of the opening on the bottom of the box. This board should be placed at the center of the opening so that 4 inches are inside the box and 4 inches are outside the box. Attach the pieces using staples from the outside of the small board to the edge of the opening of the box.
-
5
Place a box fan on the platform created by the 8 x 21-inch board. Place the fan so that the fan blows air from the inside of the box towards the outside of the box. When you use this small spray booth, paint inside the box with the fan on so that the fan takes the fumes from inside the box and blows them out, away from the box and away from you.
