DIY: Cupcake Stands for Weddings
Cupcakes are increasingly popular alternatives and additions at weddings. When serving large quantities, a cupcake stand is a great way to both present and organize your cupcakes.
Things You'll Need
- 3 cake dummies in tiered sizes (for example, 4, 5 and 6)
- 3 to 5 cake boards, depending on how many tiers you'd like
- Craft glue
- Small pins
- Ribbons in wedding colors
- Decorative paper in wedding theme (optional)
- Spray paint in wedding colors (optional)
Instructions

1
Gather all supplies. Supplies can be found at cake decorating stores and most craft stores.
-
2
Attach ribbon to the cake dummies. Carefully pin ribbon at one end of the dummy and wrap over the entire surface of the dummy, overlapping as you go. Use another pin to secure the ribbon when finished.

3
Paint the surface or glue decorative paper to the cake stands. If painting, apply two coats of spray paint and wait 30 minutes for it to dry. If gluing on paper, first cut out the paper in the sizes needed. Then, glue the paper to the cake stand using a glue stick.
-
4
Glue cake dummies to cake boards. Ensure that sizes are matched accordingly--the smallest dummy to the smallest cake board. Line up the seams of the ribbon and use this as the back of the stand.

Tips & Warnings
Adding a cake topper to the middle of the top tier is a nice way to symbolize a wedding cake.
Other objects can also be used as tiers and stands, such as terra cotta, vintage drinking glasses of different sizes, and flower pots.
If choosing decorative paper, vintage paper or paper meaningful to your wedding could be used to make it more personal.
If using spray paint, spray only when outside to prevent fumes from permeating your home.
