How to Utilize the Outlook Calendar
There's nothing more frustrating than trying to learn how to use an unfamiliar software application, especially if you need to hit the ground running in a new work environment. Fortunately, Microsoft Outlook calendar offers many basic scheduling features that are easy to learn and use, which means that you can spend more time doing your job and less time on the phone with tech support.

Set a Calendar Appointment

Click on the Windows "Start" button, followed by "All Programs" and "Microsoft Outlook" to launch Outlook.

Click on the "Calendar" button in the left navigation pane. Click on "New Appointment" near the top of the page or press "Ctrl," "Shift" and "A" simultaneously on your keyboard.

Enter a name for the appointment in the "Description" box, the location in the "Location" box and a time span for the meeting in the "Start time" and "End time" boxes.

Click on "Options" and then select "Free," "Tentative," "Busy" or "Out of Office" in the "Show As" box to let others know your availability during the appointment.

Select "Actions" and then click "Save & Close" to save your appointment. A reminder will appear on your screen 15 minutes before your appointment is scheduled.
Schedule a Meeting with Co-workers

Click on the Windows "Start" button, followed by "All Programs" and "Microsoft Outlook" to launch Outlook.

Click on "New Meeting" near the top of the page or simultaneously press "Ctrl," "Shift" and "Q" on your keyboard.

Enter a subject, location and start and end times for your meeting in the appropriate boxes.

Type the email addresses or names of other Outlook users you'd like to invite to the meeting in the "To" box and press the "Send" button. This will invite others to your meeting.
