How to Tie a Hook Onto a Fishing Rod

How to Tie a Hook Onto a Fishing Rod thumbnail
Tie the hook using a strong knot so you won't lose your fish.

The type of knot you use to tie your fishing hook to your fishing rod is important. The knot must be able to stand up to a lot of pulling without slipping. If your knot is weak and slips, you will lose both your hook and the fish. The Jansik Special knot is easy to tie, very strong and will not come undone.

Instructions

    • 1

Thread your line through the loop at the end of the hook. You will need approximately 15 cm of line pulled through the loop. Form a loose circle and put the end of the line through the hook again. Do not tighten the line, you will want the line to form a small circle above the hook. Repeat one more time, making a second circle.

Hold the circles together and thread the end of the line through the center of the circles. Bring the line up and around to the front of the circles and thread it through the center again. Repeat one more time for a total of three passes.

Hold the hook with a pliers and pull both ends of the line to tighten the knot. Your hook is now firmly secured to the fishing pole.
