How to Clear Search History in IE8
In March, 2009, Microsoft released version 8 of its Internet Explorer Web browser software (IE8). This Web browser includes a number of new features while retaining standard options, such as a “Google Search Bar,” that made it popular. Microsoft’s IE8 stores previously used keywords or terms entered into this search bar and enables users to delete items from this search bar independently of deleting cookies, temporary Internet files and the browser cache.

Open your Internet Explorer 8 Web browser. You can open IE8 with a double left click on the IE8 icon on your desktop. You can also open IE8 by left clicking the Windows icon in the bottom, left hand corner of your screen, then highlighting and left clicking on IE8 from the menu.

Open the “Tools” application window in IE8. Left click on the “Tools” icon in the menu bar of IE8, located in the upper, right-hand portion of the browser window. You can also left click on “Tools” in the top menu bar of the browser window.

Select “Delete Browsing History” by highlighting and left clicking on it to open this tool. If you have performed this step correctly, a small application window titled “Delete Browsing History” will appear inside of your IE8 browser window.

Left click on the small box that reads “Delete Forms.” A smaller application window will then appear asking “Are you sure you want to delete previously saved form data?” Click "Yes" to delete the search history.

Click the “Close” box in the “Delete Browsing History” application window. This box is located in the lower, right-hand corner of the application window.

Tips & Warnings
You can also delete items from your search history when you delete your temporary Internet files, cookies and cache. When you open the “Delete Browsing History” application window, click the “Delete All” box in the lower portion of the application window.
Once you delete IE8’s record of your search terms, you cannot undo this deletion.
