It is sometimes difficult to access information about the hardware of your computer. Often times, certain software or possibly taking apart the computer are necessary to accomplish the task. Accessing the motherboard information is important for repairs, hardware replacements, and is also needed in order to do BIOS updates. Other than checking manually there is a great piece of free software that can give you the motherboard information.

  1. Identify Your Motherboard Manually

      Open the computer case and locate the motherboard.

      Find sets of numbers located on a sticker on the motherboard.

      Google the ID numbers you have to identify the name of your motherboard.

    Identify Motherboard With Software

      Download CPUID at http://www.cpuid.com/

      Install the software.

    • 6

      Open the software, click on the "Mainboard" tab for motherboard information.

Tips & Warnings

  • Often times, there are two numbers available for the motherboard. Try both of the numbers to locate the correct information.
