How to Wire Money to Wal-Mart

How to Wire Money to Wal-Mart thumbnail
You may prefer to send a money order instead of a check.

With a money order, you can send money to anyone within the United States. It is safer than sending a check since it does not "bounce" and does not withdraw money from the recipient's account. You can also wire money to companies such as Wal-Mart. Wire your money to Wal-Mart to pay for purchases or layaway items, services (i.e. tires or photos) or to pay off your Wal-Mart credit card. You can wire money through Western Union or MoneyGram.

Instructions

  1. Wiring Money through Western Union

    • 1

Visit your nearest Western Union agent. You can find Western Union at convenience stores, supermarkets, your bank and businesses displaying the Western Union sign. Fill out the form with your name, address, telephone number and your recipient's name.

    • 2

Hand over the form and the cash for transfer. There is also a fee for the money order, depending on how much you send. The Western Union agent may ask you to show identification, depending on the amount.

    • 3

Keep your receipt in a safe place. It has your Money Transfer Control Number, which allows you to track funds online. Wal-Mart should receive the money transfer in a matter of minutes. Contact Wal-Mart and give them the Money Transfer Control Number so they can claim the money.

    Wiring Money through MoneyGram

    • 4

Locate the nearest MoneyGram location. Visit the MoneyGram website. Enter your zip code to find locations. You can also find MoneyGram at your nearest Wal-Mart and gas station.

    • 5

Go to the MoneyGram location. Bring your cash and identification with you. MoneyGram only accepts cash for completing transfers.

    • 6

Complete the "send" form. You can locate it at the MoneyGram counter. Enter your name, address and telephone number along with Wal-Mart's address and telephone number.

    • 7

Pay for both the money transfer and the fee, which varies, depending on the amount sent. Keep the reference number for your records. Contact Wal-Mart to let them know you sent the money. Give them the reference number so they can claim their money.
