Bail enforcement agents track down and detain people who have not attended thier court dates.

Bail enforcement agents are also known colloquially as bounty hunters. The bail enforcement agent pursues and captures people who have skipped bail. These are people who have made an arrangement with a bail bondsman in which he pays the majority of their bail, and they agree to make their court date. If a person does not attend her court date, a bail enforcement agent is contracted by the bail bondsman to track her down and bring her back. Although little formal training is necessary to become a bail enforcement agent, successful bail enforcement agents spend a great deal of time honing their skills. Interestingly, Tennessee is one of the few states where enforcement agents are referred to in law as bounty hunters.
