How to Convert PS One Games to PSP
The Sony PlayStation Portable (PSP) is a portable video game console that was released in 2005. Playing games on the PSP is made possible through its UMD (universal media drive) on the rear of the device. However, you can also play your older PS One games on the PSP. Because the PS One game disc cannot fit into the PSP drive, you need to convert the PS One game to a PSP game file, known as a PBP. The PBP file is then saved to the PSP memory stick, from which it can be played.

Insert the PS One game disc into your computer's optical disc drive. Download and install PSX2PSP from the Resources section.

Open PSX2PSP and click "Classic Mode." Click "ISO/PBP" and select your PS One game disc from the list that appears. Click the "Output" button and select a place to save the PSP game file. Click "OK." The rest of the information on PSX2PSP will populate automatically.

Click "Convert," and the PS One game will be converted to the PSP game file format (PBP) and will be saved in the directory you specified in Step 2. Go to the directory where the new PSP game file was saved. A new folder with the same name as the game will have been created. For example, if you converted the game "Final Fantasy," a folder named "Final Fantasy" will be there. Right-click the game's folder and click "Copy."

Connect your PSP to your computer with the USB cable and select "USB Connection" from the PSP menu. A window will appear on the computer screen and you will see the folders on the PSP memory stick. Open the "PSP" folder and right-click the "GAME" folder. Click "Paste," and the PS One game will be copied to your PSP. Press the "O" button on the PSP gamepad to safely disconnect the PSP when the transfer completes.

You need to be running custom firmware in order to run the PS One game on your PSP.
