Instructions

    • 1

Cut three 6-foot strands of embroidery floss. Fold them in half so the ends meet, and tie the folded end into a knot. Use a safety pin to attach this knot to the leg of your pants, or tape it down onto a table.

    • 2

Align the strands of embroidery floss so that they lay flat side by side. Mentally label the strands A, B, C, D, E and F from left to right.

    • 3

Hold strand A in your hand and use it to make a knot around strand B two times. Repeat this process using strand A to make knots around strands C, D, E and F. Now strand A should be positioned on the far right of your string lineup, and you should have a diagonal row of knots across your strings.

    • 4

Repeat step three, this time using strand B to make knots around strands C, D, E, F and A from left to right. Continue to make rows of knots by using the far left strand to make knots around all of the other strands.

    • 5

When your bracelet is long enough to fit your wrist, tie a knot in the bottom to secure the knots and cut the excess string. Remove the safety pin from the starting end, wrap the bracelet around your wrist and tie it to secure it in place.

Tips & Warnings

  • Make handmade string bracelets in your school colors for spirit wear. Or use six separate strands for a rainbow look instead of only three.
