DIY Shower Bench
Owning a shower bench adds the option and convenience of being able to sit down while bathing. Bending over to shave your legs or exfoliate your feet can be an arduous task after a long day's work. A shower bench removes the hassle of having to bend over. Shower benches are made from woods that hold up well to moisture. Cedar is known for its ability to withstand moisture and is often used for these applications. Building your own shower bench can be done in minutes, and it is not an expensive job. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Place two 20-inch boards on edge, parallel, and 9 inches apart. Place the 9-inch boards perpendicularly between them so they are also on edge, and 17 inches apart. Screw the 20-inch boards to the 9-inch boards using 8 screws total to complete your 12-inch-by-20-inch frame.
-
2
Position a 15-inch board perpendicularly in each inside corner of the frame so the ends of the 15-inch boards are flush with one side of the frame. These are the legs to your bench, and they must be even. Screw four screws through each corner into each leg.

3
Turn the shower bench upright and place the last three 20-inch boards across the frame so they are parallel with the 20-inch side. The ends of these boards should be flush with the 12-inch sides of the frame, and the two outside boards should be flush with the 20-inch sides of the frame. Screw the boards to the frame in this position.

4
Sand down the entire bench with the medium grade sandpaper to prevent splinters, and wipe clean with a damp cloth before you use it in your shower.
