Instructions

  1. Wedding "Monopoly"

    • 1

Create a "Monopoly"-type board from fiber board. Create 40 spaces around the board. The object of the game is to acquire all the spaces of one category for a monopoly, accumulating as much of the bride and groom's money as possible. Instead of the standard categories of street names, utilities and railroads, use categories that are related to the wedding day. Suggestions would include flowers, with subcategories, of the bride's bouquet, boutonnières, reception flowers, church flowers and the bridesmaid's flowers. Mark the categories on the same color of construction paper, say pink, and glue around the playing board.

    • 2

Decide on categories for the reception, including beverages, appetizers, dinner menu, and location. Another category would be wedding cake, groom's cake, gift boxes, cutting knife. Mark the categories on the same color of construction paper, say yellow, and glue around the playing board in the spaces you've created.

    • 3

Choose categories for wedding party attire, including bridal gown, lingerie, groom's tuxedo, bridesmaid dresses and groomsmen. Mark the categories on the same color of construction paper, perhaps white, and glue around the playing board in the spaces you've created.

    • 4

Finish with honeymoon-related categories such as airfare, hotel, luggage, passport and destinations. Mark the categories on the same color of construction paper and glue around the playing board in the spaces you've created.

    • 5

Make wedding-related Chance cards, such as "caterer demands a 10% surcharge for changes to the menu," "airfare increases by $100," "credit card is maxed out" "bride gains 15 pounds and dress doesn't fit." Throw in cards that relate to the vendors as well as the bride and groom. They could include "Roses double in price. Lose $5,000," "Hotel is destroyed by typhoon lose $2,500," or cake is dropped on floor. Replacement is $1,500. Write the Chance cards on card stock that has been cut to the size of business cards.

    • 6

Make the tokens for the players such as a bride, groom, florist, baker, wedding planner, bridal shop owner, caterer and travel agent. An easy way to do this is to cut out pictures from magazines, glue to cardboard tents made of card stock that has been fastened at the bottom with a piece of tape. The tents shouldn't be any bigger than inch tall and wide. For example: The florist could be a wedding bouquet, the caterer a picture of food, travel agent an airplane and so forth.

    • 7

Give money only to the bride and groom. The other players try to get the money away from the wedding couple by charging them whenever the couple lands on one of their blocks. The charges are pre-determined. As the wedding merchants acquire cash they can buy the spaces of the other wedding vendors. The wedding couple replenishes their cash by landing on corner spaces of "Increase Credit Card Limit by $10,000," "Income Tax Refund $15,000," "Second Mortgage on Parent's Home $50,000," and "Raise at Work, $25,000." Winner is the wedding vendor who lasts the longest.

    • 8

Throw the dice and maneuver the tokens around the board, trying to buy all the spaces for one category.

    Baby Photo Game

    • 9

Obtain baby and toddler photos of the bride and groom and all the members of the wedding party. Each member should provide at least three photos. Tape the photos to card stock. On the card stock write the name of the person whose baby photo it is.

    • 10

Spread the cards out on a table photo side up.

    • 11

Give each player 20 chips or tokens. The players pick a baby photo and guess whose it is, saying the name out loud. They turn over the card and read the name but don't allow anyone else to see the name. If they're right they keep the card and win whatever is in the pot. If they're wrong they have to put two chips in the pot and replace the photo on the table. Whoever has the most chips at the end of the game wins. The game ends when there are no more baby photos on the table.
