How to Decorate a Beach House for a Wedding Reception

A beach house is an ideal location for the reception after a beach wedding. Decorating the beach house for your wedding reception should be relatively simple if you choose decorations that celebrate the natural beauty of the beach and that relate to each other through a basic element or color scheme.

Clear our the room you plan to use for the reception. Removing excess furniture can open up the space, allowing more room for your guests. Store the furniture in another room if possible.
-
2
Open the windows if the weather permits. If not, open the blinds or curtains so the ocean view is visible. Replace dark or heavy window treatments with simple sheer panels.

3
Set up tables and chairs for your guests. Simple white linens or wicker furniture will keep the mood light and coastal. Add a touch of color by placing aqua or green pillows, cushions or sashes on the chairs.

Add beach centerpieces to each table and complementary decorations to any shelves, window sills or other flat surfaces where they will add to the wedding decorations without getting in the way. Simple lanterns, hurricanes or other glass containers can hold sand, seashells and candles. Vases can hold colorful sea glass and candles or tropical flowers, such as fuchsia orchids.

Hang miniature white lights or paper lanterns around the room and in silk palm trees. The twinkling lights will contribute to a romantic ambiance and the palm trees will complement the natural beach elements.
