How to Reboot a DSL Modem
When you are experiencing either slow or no Internet connection, you may need to reboot the modem in order for the signal from the DSL office to reach the modem. Depending on the modem you own, there maybe different methods necessary to reboot your DSL modem. Most procedures for reboot your modem can be done at home. Rebooting a modem is a basic troubleshooting step when attempting to repair an Internet connection or isolate a problem.

Unplug the modem from the AC adapter and leave it unplugged for 30 seconds.

Shut down the computer and leave it off for about 30 to 60 seconds.

Turn on the modem, then reboot the computer.

Take a safety pin or gem clip and look for the reset button on your modem. The reset button is usually next to the AC adapter that powers the modem. The reset button is usually a tiny hole that has a button inside. Place the gem clip in the reset button and keep it pressed for about 5 to 10 seconds. The modem will reboot and power cycle.

Contact your DSL provider's technical support department to have them reboot your modem from their central office. The technical support representatives can check your account information and send a signal to your DSL modem that can be rebooted without you having to do anything further.
