How to Turn Dashboard on in a MacBook

Dashboard is a part of the Mac OS X operating system on your MacBook computer. It appears as a layer above your Desktop and allows you to run widgets, small frequently used applications. By adding widgets to your Dashboard, you can create a customized space with applications you need most. Widgets range from a dictionary and calendar to auction trackers and solitaire games.

      Press the "Power" button in the upper-right corner of your MacBook. As your computer boots up, Dashboard also starts up; however, it is not visible.

      Turn Dashboard on with your trackpad by clicking on the black circular icon in the Dock that looks like gauge on a car's dashboard. The Dashboard layer will appear on the screen.

      Turn Dashboard on with your keyboard by pressing the "F4" key on an aluminum MacBook or the "F12" key on a white or black polycarbonate MacBook.
