How to Add Background Music to an Email Using Outlook 2003

You can jazz up your email messages by adding background colors. In addition to that, Outlook 2003 also allows users to add background sounds to email messages. You can specify whether you want them to play over and over as long as the message is opened, or if you just want them played once. Do not upload heavy audio files, though. Use your best judgment and attach only small sized files, so the recipient doesn't have trouble opening the message, particularly if his Internet connection isn't too fast.

Instructions

    • 1

Start Outlook 2003 and create a new message.

    • 2

Click the "View" menu on the message window.

    • 3

Point to "Toolbars" and click on "Web Tools."

    • 4

Click on "Sound" on the Web Tools toolbar.

If you don't see the Sound icon, click once in the message body. This will make the icons in Web Tools toolbar available.

    • 5

Click on "Browse" in the "Background Sound" dialogue box.

    • 6

Select the sound file you want in the background. You can select file in an audio format, such as .wav, .mid, .rmi, .au, .aif, .aiff or .snd.

    • 7

Specify the number of times you want the song to repeat as the message is opened. If you want continuous playback, choose "Infinite" under "Loop."

    • 8

Click "OK" and proceed with the message.
