How to Disassemble and Clean a Dyson DC17 Cyclone

      Turn off the vacuum and verify that the cord is not plugged into an electrical outlet.

      Place the vacuum in front of you to access the front of the vacuum and the clear bin.

      Remove the clear bin by placing your thumb on the button above the handle. Grasp the handle with an overhand grip. Push the button with your thumb while firmly pulling the clear bin toward you. Tilt the clear bin up and out of the vacuum.

      Empty the contents of the clear bin by placing it over a trash can. Push the button on the top of the clear bin to release the contents of the bin into the trash can.

      Wipe the clear bin inside and out with a damp cloth to remove dirt and debris.

      Remove the filter located below the clear bin. Press button to release the filter. Clean the filter by washing it under your faucet using warm water. Allow the filter to dry for 24 hours before reinserting it.

      Verify that all parts are completely dry. Reassemble the filter and clear bin. Your Dyson DC17 is ready for normal use.
