How to Download a Music Video for Free From YouTube to an MP4

YouTube is a popular website which allows users to upload videos to share. Videos may consist of many different types and styles, including music videos. Since YouTube is a sharing website, users may also download videos for viewing on their own PCs or other video and audio devices for free.

Instructions

Save video from YouTube

1. Visit real.com and download the free version of RealPlayer.

2. Follow the instructions to install RealPlayer and ensure you enable the "Download this video" option.

3. Visit youtube.com and find the music video you want to download.

4. Click on the drop-down arrow on the "Download this video" button in the upper right corner of the video.

5. Click on the "Save this video as" option.

6. Browse to the location you want to save the video and click on the "Save" button.

Convert video to MP4 format using RealPlayer

1. Hover the mouse over the video in the RealPlayer download window and click on the drop-down arrow next to "Copy to iPad." The pop-up tip will say "Choose Device."

2. Click on the "Apple to iPad" option in the "Choose Device" menu. This should be the default.

3. Click the "Start" button. This will convert the file into MP4 format. Depending on the size of the video, this may take a few minutes.

4. Uncheck any options you do not want to select and click the "OK" button. You may now play the MP4 file with any device that accepts MP4 format.

Convert video to MP4 format using DVD VideoSoft

1. Download and install DVD VideoSoft at dvdvideosoft.com. DVD VideoSoft is another option, instead of using RealPlayer.

2. Paste the YouTube URL in DVD VideoSoft.

3. Click on the "Browse" button to change the location in which you want to store the MP4 file.

4. Click on the drop down arrow for "Devices" and choose the appropriate MP4 device in which you will be transferring this file. For example, if you are using an iPod, choose "Apple iPod." You may also change the quality in the "Presets" drop down list, if you need to save space.

5. Click the "Download" button and the conversion will begin. Once the conversion has completed, a window will appear. Click "OK" and the file will be saved in MP4 format.

Tips & Warnings

• During download and installation, RealPlayer will ask if you wish to have Google Chrome as your default browser. During conversion, RealPlayer will ask if you wish to transfer the file to your iPad. Ensure you read all installation and conversion screens and uncheck any items you do not wish to install or setup.
