How to Test Cable Internet Speed

Using any number of free Internet speed tests, you can get a rough estimation of your cable Internet speed. While these test will give you a good idea of your connection speed, the server location for the test and your computer's personal and networking configuration can affect how accurate the results are. These test will work on most commonly used web browsers (e.g. Firefox or IE).

      Access the Cable-Modem speed test (see References).

      Click the "Run Speed Test" button at the top of the page.

      Read the test results. Your speed will be presented in Kbps and compared with the other standard Internet connections.

    TestMySpeed

      Go to the TestMySpeed speed test website (see References).

      Click the "Click here to start speed test" button in the middle of the page.

    • 6

      Read the test results. Your cable Internet's download and upload speed will be presented above the speedometer in Kbps.

    InternetFrog

      Access the InternetFrog speed test website (see References).

    • 8

      Click the "Click to Start" button in the middle of the page.

    • 9

      Read the test results. Your download and upload speed will be presented above the graph in Mbps.
