How to Secure a Storm Door
Over time your storm door can come loose from the doorway; this might be because of wind that catches the door or just from normal wear and tear. Once you notice the door is loose, secure it as soon as possible so it won't come off entirely and need replacing. Most storm doors are connected to a metal frame secured to the door molding. In some cases the metal frame needs securing to the molding, or the molding itself needs a repair to hold the frame. In either case, you can make this repair without calling a professional. Does this Spark an idea?

Secure any loose molding to your door frame. Wedge a wood shim between the molding and the door frame where the molding needs to be secured. Use a hammer to tap the end of the wood shim to push it in place between the molding and the door frame.

2
Drill a nail through the molding into the wood shim. Position a nail punch against the molding where the shim is inserted. Tap the end of the nail punch with a hammer to make a small hole. Insert a galvanized nail into the hole and hammer it through the molding and shim; this will secure the molding to the door frame. Slice off the protruding edge of the shim with a utility knife.

Drill a 3/16-inch hole in the storm door frame next to the hole you made in the molding. Use the power drill with a screwdriver bit to drill a wood screw through the frame into the molding. Follow this procedure on other parts of the frame that are loose.
