How to Speed Up Utorrent 1.8.1 Download Speeds

The total bandwidth you have through your Internet connection determines how much speed you get when it comes to different programs such as the file sharing program uTorrent. The program can be sped up by using controls inside of uTorrent to use more of your bandwidth on the particular download that you want. Making sure that uTorrent gets by your firewall can also significantly increase the speed of your torrents.

Instructions

1. Download and install the uTorrent version 1.8.1 (see Resources) if it is not already installed.

2. Click "Start" in Windows and select "Control Panel." Double-click "Windows Firewall."

3. Click the "Add program" button in the "Exceptions" tab in Windows Firewall. Select "uTorrent" from the browse window. Check the box next to uTorrent when it appears in the list. Click "OK."

4. Open uTorrent and right-click on the torrent file you're downloading in the main screen. Select "Bandwidth allocation" from the drop-down menu. A new menu appears with "High," "Medium" and "Low" available as options. Select "High."
