How to Make a Billfold Out of Duck Tape
Create a customized billfold to hold your cash and identification using only duct tape. Duck tape is a specific brand of duct tape and is available in a variety of colors, so you can mix and match different colors to make a truly one-of-a-kind wallet. Start out by making a basic wallet, then add to your design with additional duct tape to create extra pockets or design features. Don't be afraid to make mistakes, as one roll of duct tape will render several billfolds--so you can make one for yourself and give any additional billfolds as gifts.
Instructions
-
-
1
Cut an 8.5-inch-long strip of duct tape and lay it sticky side up on your work surface.
-
2
Cut a second 8.5-inch strip of tape and line it up so that it overlaps the first strip by approximately 1/2 inch. The goal is to make a rectangle of tape with the sticky side up measuring 8.5 inches wide and 7 inches tall. Use a third piece of tape, if necessary, to form this rectangle.
-
-
3
Press additional 8.5-inch lengths of tape onto the rectangle sticky side down. You now have a rectangle with the sticky parts of the tape sandwiched in the middle so they are not exposed.
-
4
Fold strips of duct tape over each raw edge of your rectangle. This seals the sides of the rectangle together and gives the edges a finished appearance.
-
5
Fold the rectangle in half to form a 8.5-inch by 3.5-inch rectangle. Crease the fold firmly with the side of your thumb.
-
6
Tape the shorter sides of the rectangle together to form your billfold. Place your money in the billfold and fold it in half to carry it in your pocket.
