How to Adjust the Ride Height on a 2000 Corvette

by David Curtis

The 2000 Chevrolet Corvette is part of the C5 or fifth-generation model produced from 1997 to 2004. The C5 model is equipped with the powerful LS1 V8 engine. The 2000 Corvette engine is rated at 345 horsepower. The car is 179.7 inches long, 73.6 inches wide and weighs 3,300 lbs. The ride height can be adjusted on the standard suspension system by changing the position of four adjustment bolts.

Step 1

Park the car on a level, flat surface. Use a jack to raise the rear of the car and support the weight with jack stands for safety. Remove the rear wheel from the car to gain access to the adjustment area.

Step 2

Search for the rear adjustment bolt at the end of the suspension traverse spring. Locate the head of the bolt and using an 18mm socket wrench, turn the bolt clockwise to lower the car or counterclockwise to raise it. Restrict the top nut from spinning with the bolt by holding a 13/16-inch open-end wrench on it.

Step 3

Remove the jack stands and lower the car. Measure the distance from the ground to the top of the fender. Repeat the process for other side until the measurement is matched.

Step 4

Jack the front of the car and support with jack stands. Remove the front tire for easier access.

Step 5

Search for the ride height adjustment bolts. The bolts are in front of the shock absorbers. Use a 10mm socket to adjust the bolt. Turning counterclockwise lowers the car and turning clockwise will raise it.

Step 6

Remove the jack stands and lower the car. Measure the distance from the ground to the top of the fender. Repeat the process for other side until the measurement is matched

Step 7

Drive the car for 200 miles to settle the suspension. Measure the car again and make any adjustments.
