How to Wrap a Basket

How to Wrap a Basket thumbnail
Baskets with stationary upright handles are the easiest to wrap.

Wrap a basket in cellophane to make it look more decorative and to secure its contents. Gift wrap cellophane is stiffer than cellophane used for food. Buy gift wrap cellophane at a craft store or party supply store. It comes in a variety of colors and designs so you can coordinate it with your basket’s theme. For example, use snowflake patterned cellophane for a Christmas-theme gift basket.

Instructions

    • 1

Cut a square piece of cellophane that's twice the diameter of your basket. Spread the cellophane on a flat surface.

    • 2

Place the basket in the middle of the cellophane. Cut a two foot piece of ribbon.

    • 3

With one hand, grab one corner of the cellophane. Grab an adjacent corner with your other hand and bring the two corners together over the top of the basket. Hold both corners in one hand, and, with your other hand, grab another corner and join it with the others. Repeat with the fourth corner.

Wrap the ribbon around the gathered area of cellophane and tie a tight bow. You may need someone else's hand for this step. Trim off any excess ribbon.
