How to Clean Cache on Firefox

The Firefox Web browser stores a cache of information based on regularly visited websites. The cache saves parts of these websites, such as images and scripts, to increase speed and performance. Cleaning the cache may help with technical difficulties experienced at websites, privacy issues or reduce the amount of memory being used. Firefox offers two options for cleaning the cache--manual and automatic.

      Click on the "Firefox" icon to open the browser.

      Click "Tools" and choose "Options" from the drop-down menu at the top of the screen.

      Click "Advanced" and select the "Network" tab.

      Click "Clear Now" under the Offline Storage section and select "OK" at the bottom of the screen.

    Automatic

      Click "Tools" and "Options" while Firefox is open.

      Click the "Privacy" panel and select the "Firefox Will" drop-down tab. Choose "Use Custom Settings for History."

      Click the "Clear History When Firefox Closes" box to place a check mark in it.

      Choose the "Settings" button next to the "Clear History When Firefox Closes" box to open the Settings for Clearing History window.

      Click the "Cache" check box to place a check mark in it and click "OK."

      Click "OK" in the "Options" menu to close it.
