SD cards are convenient ways to carry stored data.

A Secure Digital (SD) card provides solid state memory storage just like that of an external hard drive, minus any moving parts. An SD card that has been formatted for use on a digital camera will not work as efficiently on a Mac. You can reformat the SD card into a Mac-compatible format using an included formatting program that comes with the OS X operating system. The procedure is straightforward and will not take more than a couple of minutes.
