How to Make Crafts Using Bandanas
Their square shape and hemmed sides make bandanas an excellent source for making crafts. The beginning sewer can easily create bandana crafts without worrying about fabric cutting or fraying. Just choose crafts that require a specific size of bandana. The two sizes of bandanas, 18-inch and 22-inch, both come in many colors and patterns.

Tote Bag

1
Place two bandanas, right sides together, one on top of the other. Pin them together on three sides. Sew a ¼-inch seam over the pins. Remove the pins. Turn the bag right side out.
-
2
Fold the top open end under ¾ of an inch. Pin the fabric in place.
-
-
3
Sew along the inside edge with your sewing machine, leaving a 2-inch opening at one of the sides. This forms a tube. Remove the pins.
-
4
Attach the safety pin to one end of the cord. Use the safety pin to push the end of the cord through one side of the tube and all the way around to the other side of the opening. Pull the cord even.
-
5
Hold the ends of the cord together and tie a single knot.
Pillow
-
6
Place two bandanas with right sides together and pin around all four sides.

7
Sew a ¼-inch seam on your sewing machine over the pins, leaving a 5-inch opening at one side. Turn the pillow right side out.
-
8
Stuff the pillow with pillow stuffing, which you can purchase at a craft or fabric store. Push the stuffing all the way into the corners. Stuff the pillow until it is full.
-
9
Fold the edges of the opening of the bandana to the inside so it is even with the seam on both sides. Pin the opening shut.
