How to Use Stencil Punches
Decorate items uniquely using stencil punches. Stencil punches are homemade stencils that were made using a punch stencil maker or paper hole puncher. Using these stencils is an easy way to decorate everything from clothing to special arts and crafts projects. Involve the whole family to make your decorating into a special event.

1
Cut a strip of freezer paper with a pair of scissors. The strip should be about 2 inches wide and as long as the sheet it was cut from.
-
2
Use a stencil punch to punch out designs from the strip. Each new punch should be about 1 inch away from the one before it. Do this along the entire length of the strip of paper. Use whatever punch design you prefer; many different kinds of punches exist.

3
Cut out each individual punch as its own square stencil and lay the stencils across an object that you want to decorate: for example, a t-shirt or a notebook cover. Arrange stencils on the object in whatever design you prefer.
-
4
Paint over each individual stencil with an airbrush or spray paint so that the negative part of the stencil (where the design was punched out) gets painted onto the object you are decorating. If you are decorating cloth, add a layer of freezer paper between each layer of cloth to avoid paint bleeding through to the other side.
