How to Make a Local Coupon Book
Local coupon books can help raise money for a charity or organization and also promote local businesses by giving consumers an incentive to visit a specific store or restaurant. The coupons can be valid for a specific time period, usually a year, or they can have no expiration date. The books can also include pictures and information about the area, and can help promote tourism or attract visitors from nearby towns.

1
Call or visit local retailers to ask if they would be interested in being included in the book. If you decide you want your profit to come purely from selling the books, you can allow businesses to be included for free. An alternative is to charge them a small fee, reserving the highest fees for full-page coupons. Be prepared with examples and ideas of products or discounts businesses could include in the coupon book. Some examples include giving a percentage off a certain service, or having a "Buy One, Get One Free" coupon. If the coupon books are a fundraiser, come prepared with information and photos about the organization or charity benefiting from the sales.

2
Format the coupons on a computer. Microsoft Word is an easy-to-use tool to format simple coupons; Microsoft Office also offers coupon templates online. If you want something more elaborate, consider asking local artists to hand-draw the coupons. Or you can hire a local graphic designer or ask him to donate his services. Ticketprinting.com also allows you to create and print custom coupons online.

3
Design the cover. Include a photo of your area, or showcase the work of a local artist. If the coupon book is for a fundraiser, use a photo showcasing the charity or organization involved. Include details such as the total amount of savings you could receive by using all the coupons in the book and how many coupons are in the book, to help sell the book.
-
4
Print a copy of your coupon booklet or save your coupons as a PDF file. Bring the digital or hard copy version to a local printer or copy shop. Make sure to know how many you would like to print and what kind of binding you would like to use---staples, coil binding, tape binding, comb binding or book binding. Staple binding will be the most affordable. If you would like a professional-looking book, you may have to go to a printer that specializes in books.
-
5
Sell your book. Give copies to all of the retailers involved, to sell in their stores. Market the book at local schools, churches, town meetings, fairs, PTA meetings, or Home Owners Association meetings. Post flyers around town. Include a link to the book on the town website, and send out emails to town organizations. Designing a website that will allow the book to be sold online will also help you sell the book.
