How to Remove Scratch Resistant Coating From Glasses
Many eyeglass lenses are treated with a layer of scratch resistant coating. As you wear your glasses, this layer of coating may begin to peel away, leaving an uneven layer that can cause an obstruction to your vision. Put on a pair of rubber gloves and set up to work in an outdoor area.

Apply a coat of Armour Etch onto a cotton swab.

Spread the Armour Etch evenly on both sides of the lenses using the cotton swab.

Let the cream remain on the lenses for about five minutes.

Rinse the lenses in clear, warm water to remove all of the Armour Etch cream residue.

Dry off the lenses with a nonabrasive towel. All traces of the scratch resistant coating should now be gone.

Tips & Warnings
Armour Etch will ruin lenses made of glass, so this method is not intended for glass lenses, only plastic. If you are unsure as to whether your lenses are made of plastic or glass, you can place a very small amount of Armour Etch on a small area of the lens to make sure that it is safe to use.
Armour Etch contains hydrofluoric acid, which is very harmful to the skin. You should undertake these steps in an outdoor area, if possible, as you will need plenty of ventilation. Armour Etch is irritating if inhaled, so it is advisable not to work indoors with this product.

I have this same problem. I've only had these lenses for about 16 months and can barely see throught them. My doctor's only solution buy new lenses for $291.00 even though my vision hasn't changed. I am definately going to try this.

I ordered some armor etch to remove the VERY FLAKY scratch resistant coating on my lenses Friday the 15th and got it in the mail today the 22 of April. Used it and let me tell ya I am VERY IMPRESSED! I can now see through my lenses:) I did have to do it twice and it doesn't do anything for deep scratches but it is WELL WORTH the money! Thank you sooooo much!
