How to Register a Live.Com Email
Windows Live is the provider of both Hotmail and Live.com e-mail accounts. Live.com e-mail accounts are easy to register and use. Setting up a Live.com e-mail address is free, and can take just a few minutes. Windows Live does not require much personal information to establish a Live.com account, and the registration process is completed on one page.
Instructions

-
1
Type Live.com into your web browser to go to the Windows Live website. This will bring you directly to the login page. Locate the section "Don't have a Windows Live ID?" on the lower left corner of the page.
-
2
Click the "Sign Up" button. This brings up the page necessary to create your Live.com account. Complete all future steps on this page.
-
-
3
Select "Live.com" as the type of account you want to create. Windows Live uses the same sign-up page for both Hotmail and Live e-mail accounts, so you must choose live.com from the drop-down menu.
-
4
Create your Windows Live ID by typing your desired e-mail address into the first box on the page. This can be any combination of letters, numbers and underscores.
-
5
Click "Check Availability" to ensure that the ID you have selected is not already in use. If the ID is not available, select a new one and perform the check again.
-
6
Create a password for the account below your new e-mail address. Use a variety of characters and refrain from using passwords that include your name, birth date or any other information that is easily accessible to others.
-
7
Enter an alternate e-mail address or choose a security question below your password. These measures allow you to recover the account password if you forget it.
-
8
Complete the CAPTCHA image verification test. The test consists of a box on the screen containing distorted letters which you must decipher. Type the letters, in the order presented, into the box below the image.
-
9
Read the Microsoft service agreement and privacy statement, and click "I accept". This is necessary to finish registering the account.

Tips & Warnings
Add numbers or initials if you are having trouble finding an available ID.
If you choose to use a security question, make sure that it is not common knowledge and is difficult enough that only you know the answer.
