How to Disable Private Browsing in IE8

Internet Explorer 8 contains a private browsing feature. When activated, private browsing disables the logging of browsing history--users browse without leaving a trace. Whether you're a system administrator who wishes to log users' browsing habits, or a parent monitoring his child's Internet usage, you can disable the private browsing feature and keep a record of websites visited.

Open the Group Policy Editor by clicking "Start," typing "gpedit.msc" into the search box in the Start menu and pressing "Enter."

    • 2

Expand "Administrative Templates" under "Computer" in the "Group Policy Editor" window by clicking the arrow to its left.
