How to Paint Wine Glasses with Acrylic Paints Mixed with All-Purpose Sealer
Hand-painted wine glasses can complement fine china and everyday dinnerware as well as show off your own unique style. Fine artists and those who can trace a design--or who just have a flair for decor--can create these crafts, which can also be given as heartfelt gifts or special mementos. All the necessary items for this craft can be found in a local crafts store, and the wine glasses can be either simple and cheap or more expensive.

Clean and dry your wine glasses to prepare them for decoration. Take special care in handling the glasses to ensure the oils from your hands don't corrupt the painting surface. Wear latex gloves, if necessary, to protect the surfaces.

Apply a base coat of all-purpose sealer on the outside of each glass. This will help the acrylic paint adhere to the surface.

Choose the design for the glasses. Draw the design each wine glass with a paint pen, either freehand or by tracing stencils or clip art. Place clip art inside of the glass to trace the design on the outside, leaving at least 1/2 inch from the top of the glass.

Paint the design fully on each glass in the acrylic paint colors you selected for the art. Wipe any errors or paint drippings with a cotton swab dipped in rubbing alcohol. Allow the first coat to dry before applying any additional coats. Allow all of the coats of paint to dry for at least 24 hours.

Place the painted wine glasses in cool oven, and then heat the oven to 350 degrees. "Bake" the glasses for 30 minutes. Turn off the oven, and open the door to allow the glasses to cool in oven before removing.
