Instructions

    • 1

Measure the length of wire you need to hide. Do this by allowing the wire to lay the way it naturally falls and use the tape measure. Write down the measurements. If you have carpeting, the easiest way to hide the wire is to slip it under the carpet. If you have no carpet, go to Step 4.

    • 2

Pry a little space between the carpet and the wall using a flathead screwdriver.. Do not be afraid to do this; there is enough space there to get the screwdriver head in and pry. Do not pull at the carpet.

    • 3

Start at the area nearest the phone. Use your screwdriver to push the wire between the carpet and the wall. Be careful not to push too hard; you could break the insulation around the wire. Repeat this process all the way around the room. Staple the wire along the wall and paint the same color as your wall.

    • 4

Arrange the raceways along the floor near the bottom of the walls where you are going to install them. Install the horizontal ones first. Start nearest the phone and lay the wire in the slot in the raceway.

    • 5

Continue along the wall until all the horizontal wire is hidden. If you want to use the raceways along the wall for the vertical wire, you have to consider the fact that the raceway will be noticeable even if you paint it, and it will not allow any give for the wire so you will be stuck using the phone in one area. If there is still too much wire showing, make sure you lay the raceway straight. A leaning or crooked raceway would stick out noticeably.

Use paint that matches your wall to paint over the raceway.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you have baseboards and carpeting, you have the best scenario. Simply tuck the wire between the carpeting and baseboard.

  • Never cut through wire insulation, as it could be a fire hazard.
