How to Install Brother MFC Ink Cartridges
Modern printers perform so many functions that it can be difficult to figure out where to change the ink. Most printers can scan, fax, read different types of media cards and even have touch screens. A simple thing like changing the ink cartridges can be difficult with so many doors and latches to figure out. The Brother MFC series of printers are fairly easy to maintain and changing the ink cartridges is very simple.

Turn off the printer and open the ink cartridge door on the front-right side of the printer. You can open this door by pulling the small handle located at the top.

Remove the empty cartridges by pressing down on the tab located directly above each cartridge.

Turn on the printer and wait for the printer to acknowledge that there are not any ink cartridges installed.

Prepare the black (BK) cartridge for installation by rotating the knob to release the cap.

Remove the cap and gently insert the cartridge into the correct slot in the direction of the arrows on the cartridge. The cartridge will click into position when installed properly.

Repeat step 4 for the remaining three cartridges (Y, C, and M), being sure to match the correct cartridge to each slot.

Close the ink cartridge door and follow the instructions on the printer screen for calibrating the new ink cartridges.

Tips & Warnings
The cartridges and cartridge slots are matched by label and color. Make sure to match the cartridges to the slots correctly.
