The only way to protect unauthorized persons from gaining access to your email account is to keep your password private. To help protect your privacy, Hotmail features a password recovery link. The link allows you to recover a lost password without giving access to your email account to automated systems or hackers. You must provide an alternative email address and follow a series of commands to verify your identify and reset your password. While you cannot get the old one back, you can obtain a new password in minutes.
