How to Clear Internet History in Ubuntu

Ubuntu Linux includes the Mozilla Firefox Web browser. Mozilla Firefox stores Ubuntu's Internet history just like it does on other operating systems. The Internet history includes lists of visited webpages and downloaded files as well as other data such as cached content, website cookies and more. Clear the Internet history in Ubuntu by clearing Mozilla Firefox's private data.

Instructions

1. Open Mozilla Firefox on Ubuntu by clicking "Applications," "Internet" and "Firefox Web Browser."

2. Click "Tools" and "Clear Recent History" in the "Mozilla Firefox" window.

3. Click the box to the right of "Time Range to Clear" in the "Clear Recent History" window, and click "Everything."

4. Specify which types of private data to delete by clicking the check boxes to the left of each in the "Details" list in the "Clear Recent History" window.

5. Clear the Internet history in Ubuntu by clicking the "Clear Now" button in the "Clear Recent History" window.

Tips & Warnings

• Start a private browsing session in Ubuntu's Firefox by clicking "Tools" and "Start Private Browsing." Firefox doesn't remember Internet history for private browsing sessions.

• Disable Internet history entirely by clicking "Edit," clicking "Preferences," clicking the "Privacy" icon in the "Firefox Preferences" window, clicking the box next to "Firefox Will," clicking "Never Remember History" in the list and clicking "Close."
