How to Attach Burton Bindings

How to Attach Burton Bindings thumbnail
Burton holds the largest market share in snowboard equipment.

Burton holds the largest market share of any company in snowboard gear in 2010. Their name is on everything from first-year rental equipment to boards ridden at the highest levels of competition, including the Olympic games. Burton snowboards require bindings which mount using a three-hole screw pattern, whereas most other snowboard bindings use a four-hole pattern. Fortunately Burton bindings come with mounting plates to fit both three- and four-hole pattern boards.

Instructions

    • 1

Position the bindings on the board. Snowboards have many more than just the three or four screw holes for each binding, allowing for personal choice in binding position and angle. You may want a wider stance for high speed riding, boarder cross or freestyle, or a narrower one for carving. You may choose a forward, neutral or "duck" stance. A forward stance is used more for freeride snowboarding, whereas neutral or duck stances often are used by freestyle riders.

    • 2

Insert the mounting plates into the bindings. These round plates fit into the hole in the center of the bindings. They can be turned to allow you to line up the holes to the screw holes in the board with the bindings in the position and angle of your choice.

    • 3

Insert the screws through the binding plates and into the board and tighten them securely. If using lower-end plastic bindings be careful not to over-tighten the plates as you can crack the bindings.

    • 4

Insert the binding plate covers if your bindings have them. Some lower end bindings do not. If you do have plate covers, bindings usually tighten in place with a single screw in the center of the cover.
