How to Draw Skateboard Graffiti
Skateboard graffiti involves an innumerable assortment of designs and styles for decorating a skateboard deck. Most skateboard graffiti artists spray-paint designs onto the bottom of the skateboard with stencils and paint spray. These graffiti images can represent who you are, why you love skateboarding, or something irreverent. Most graffiti artists do not paint the top of the skateboard because shoes will quickly scuff the drawing. Although it's most common to draw on skateboards with spray paint, which is vivid, long lasting and relatively inexpensive, you can use paint markers as well.
Things You'll Need
- Spray paint
- Cardboard
- Skateboard
- Utility knife
- Marker or pen
- Painter's tape
Instructions

-
1
Trace the outline of your skateboard on the cardboard using a marker or pencil.
-
2
Draw whatever you wish inside the outline you made. Images of your home town, aliens, a portrait of you, or a famous or personal quote are all acceptable possibilities for your skateboard graffiti.
-
-
3
Carefully cut out your image so that you have a stencil. Avoid any flaking or frayed edges by cutting slowly and going over cuts again to ensure they are smooth.
-
4
Remove the two trucks (the bracket and wheels) from the bottom of the skateboard.
-
5
Tape the sides of your skateboard and the edges of the top surface of the deck. This ensures that no spray paint seeps from the bottom surface onto the top surface while you're working.
-
6
Lay your prepared skateboard on cheap cardboard on a flat surface outside and place the stencil over the board in the way you want the drawing to be on your deck.
-
7
Spray on a white primer onto the deck of your skateboard and let it dry according to the packaging instructions. Add another layer if the original artwork shows through.
-
8
Spray paint the drawing onto the board.
