How to Delete Emule's Search History

Emule is a large peer-to-peer file-sharing program that allows you to search for and download files including images and videos from other users connected to their networks. By default, eMule keeps a record of your previous searches so you can access the same content again anytime you want; however, you may want to delete your search history if you do not want other eMule users to view your search and downloading history.

Instructions

    • 1

Launch eMule and select the "Preferences" located in the "File" menu. Select the option to disable the autocompletion feature to clear your previous search history.

    • 2

Place your mouse cursor in the search box. Press the "Ctrl" and "Delete" keys together to clear your previous eMule search history.

    • 3

Double-click "My Computer" on the desktop, then double-click the "C:" drive. Double-click the "eMule" folder and double-click the "config" folder. Locate the "AC_SearchStrings.dat" file and right-click it. Select "Open With" and click "Notepad." You should see your previous eMule search history in the notepad. Select the entries you want to remove and delete them.
