How to Clean Vomit Stains From Carpet With Household Cleaners
Vomiting is never fun and neither is cleaning up afterward. While some messes are easier to clean than others, cleaning the area as soon as possible will make the job much easier and more pleasant. The darker the carpet's original color, the less chance the stain remains visible. Fortunately, there is a way to completely clean the area, no matter the color of the carpet, so no evidence gets left behind. Does this Spark an idea?
Things You'll Need
- Bucket
- Rubber gloves
- Vacuum (with optional handheld accessory)
- Water
- Colorsafe bleach
- Liquid dish soap
- Baking soda
- Paper towels
Instructions

Measure out 4 cups of water into the bucket and add 2 tbsps. of baking powder and 4 tbsps. of liquid dish detergent.

Put on the rubber gloves and carefully add 1 cup of colorsafe bleach to the bucket mixture.

Stir the ingredients with your hand and the sponge, until the ingredients are well blended, the baking soda has dissolved into the liquid and a layer of soapy bubbles appears on the surface.

Saturate the area affected by the vomit stain using the sponge. Return to the bucket as needed for more cleaning solution.

Allow the mixture to sit on the stain for 15 to 20 minutes, allowing the chemicals to penetrate the carpet fibers and loosen the stains.

Scrub the carpet with the saturated sponge, further loosening the stains.

Vacuum the area continuously for 10 to 15 minutes, using the smaller handheld attachment, if available.

Repeat steps 7 to 10 until the stain is completely eradicated.

Dry the area with paper towels, pressing them lightly into the the carpet to soak up any residual cleaning products.

Because bleach is toxic if consumed, keep it out of the reach of children and the container sealed when not in use.
