How to Embed Music in Powerpoint

Microsoft PowerPoint is a multimedia presentation program that you can use to create slide shows, business proposals and DVD presentations complete with professional transitions, images and even music. Accompanying any presentation with music can make your presentation more appealing to your audience. You can embed music in PowerPoint to ensure that anyone viewing your presentation hears the music you choose, regardless of whether the music file exists on the end user's computer or not.

Instructions

    • 1

Select a WAV file for your presentation. PowerPoint can read MP3 files and you can insert them into a presentation, but to embed files seamlessly, you'll need a WAV. The file should be 100KB or less for best performance, though you can embed up to 50MB. The bigger the file, the more chance you will have of slowing down your presentation.

    • 2

Open the PowerPoint presentation you would like to embed music in. Move through the presentation to the place you want the first song to begin.

    • 3

Go to the "Animations" menu and locate the "Transition Sound" option. Click this option and select the "Other Sound" option to browse to the location on your computer where your WAV files are stored. Click the WAV file you want to add.

    • 4

Select the "Loop Until Next Transition" option if you have a short tune you want to play over several times. If you have a full song, leave this option unchecked and the song will play in its entirety.
