How to Make a Cedar Shower Bench
Cedar is a commonly used wood for benches in saunas, spas, and showers. It has the ability to hold up well to moisture and provides a pleasant smell to the room it occupies. A shower bench adds the option to sit down while taking a shower. It makes accomplishing tasks like exfoliating or shaving one's legs much easier than it would be to do it while standing. Cedar benches are inexpensive and easy to build and can be done in a matter of minutes, with basic materials and tools. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Lay the 12-inch boards so they are on edge, parallel, and 8 inches apart. Lay the 8-inch boards perpendicularly between them so they are 10 inches apart. Screw the 12-inch boards to the 8-inch boards using eight screws. You should have a 10-inch-by-12-inch frame.

2
Lay your frame flat and position the 15-inch boards perpendicular to the inside of each corner. Screw four screws through each corner and into the 15-inch boards. These are the legs to your cedar shower bench; the ends of the boards should all be flush with one side of the frame.

3
Position your bench upright so the frame is on top, and screw the 10-inch boards to the top of the frame. The 10-inch boards should lay flat across the frame so they are parallel with the 10-inch sides. The two outside 10-inch boards should be flush with the 10-inch sides of the frame and the ends of the boards should be flush with the 12-inch sides of the frame.
-
4
Sand your project with the medium and fine grade sand paper. Wipe the bench down with your damp cloth before you place it in the shower.
