How to Make a Vase From Rope or Twine & Glue or Resin
Wrapping a vase in rope or twine is a simple and fun way to dress up a simple vase or jar. It adds texture to a room and is so easy that you'll want to move on to candlesticks, lamps and whatever else you can cover.
Things You'll Need
- Vase
- Newspaper or grocery bags
- Rope or twine
- Glue gun or clear glue
- Varnish

Use a clean vase or jar. Find a vase or jar, and clean it out.

Lay a protective barrier over the surface on which you'll be working.

Use a glue gun or clear glue. Starting at the bottom, put a dollop of glue on the bottom side of the vase with a glue gun or with clear glue and a small brush. Hold a piece of rope on the glue until it sticks.

Experiment with different rope for a different look. Wrap rope tightly around the vase, gluing at least once every turn.

Squeeze the rows together so no part of the vase shows through.

Continue winding the rope or twine until you get to the top, and cut the rope. Glue the end down.

Add a coat of varnish to seal the rope.
