How to Add Yahoo Contacts to Hotmail Messenger
Windows Live Messenger, formally known as Hotmail Messenger, is Microsoft's resident instant messaging program. Used to keep in touch with friends and family, Windows Live is compatible with other email domains outside of Hotmail and MSN. You can add Yahoo email addresses in particular to Windows Live Messenger, giving Windows Live user added incentive to use their IM client.

Open the Windows Live Messenger program. Click on the "Start" icon located at the bottom left portion of the screen. Select "Programs," and highlight and select the "Windows Live" folder. Click on "Messenger" to initialize the program, and enter in your username and password to sign in.

Edit your contact list. Refer to the top right portion of your contact list. Select the add a contact function by clicking on the messenger icon. The Messenger icon is represented by a small green silhouette of a person from the waist up, holding a plus sign.

Add the new contact. Refer to the empty text box entitled "Instant Messaging Address." Type in the Yahoo email address of the contact you wish to add, including the domain name. For example, it should say: "example@yahoo.com." Click "Add Contact" at the bottom of the window to complete the process.
